I know I know this isn't exactly the fun part for most people, but it's very necessary to read through these rules and follow them or else this just turns into chaos and property values go down and no one wants that. To do this in an easier to read way we'll do this in point form and to easier bring up rules down the line they'll be numbered.
Basic Rules
1. Pretty much the most basic thing, proboards has their own set of rules you normally have to go through when you join and following them is a must.
2. In relation to the above please refrain from posting anything offensive or that might be considered offensive or might insult or make your fellow players uncomfortable (Nothing illegal, no porn (OR NEAR PORN), nothing discriminatory etc.) Whether in the way of text, images or links. Basically if you think it might get us in trouble or make other players uncomfortable don't post it. Anything that is posted that gets reasonable complaint will be asked to be taken down or jut taken down. Sorry if this upsets anyone but this is a place to have fun and I don't want people being afraid to come on because of this sort of thing. Obviously based on the next rule swearing is fine as long as you don't go to far with it or use it to insult other players.
3. Don't be an ass, seriously best way to sum that up. Just try to treat your fellow players and staff civilly even if you don't like them. It's perfectly fine to get into discussions even mildly heated stuff but I don't want any actual arguments or people insulting others even if you do it in underhanded ways. If you really want to bitch about other players or staff take it to PM or IM.
4. In relation to the two above things we do have a shoutbox but if I'm a little concerned with having one having seen a lot of trouble with them in the past, remember you can be kicked from them if you do not follow the above rules there either and if I see it becoming too much of an issue it will be removed altogether. Remember just because you CAN post in real time doesn't mean you SHOULD stop thinking before you post.
5. I'd like to consider this a sort of intermediate level forum, there's no word limit on this forum meaning your posts can be as long or as short as you'd like and no one's going to jump down your throat for a few misspellings. That being said please try to refrain from posting page long posts with every little detail or sentence long ones with no detail. I guess what I'm trying to say is try to find a happy medium between boring your fellow players and not giving them anything to work with, but in the end this isn't a hard rule it's up to you. In addition try not to misspell every second word, we all have spell check for a reason after all, but it is fine to screw up a few words here and there or make some grammatical mistakes.
6. Try to keep out of character (OOC) and in character (IC) separate this means two things, don't bring arguments and battles between characters out of the game itself (and vice versa) and try not to post out of character too much in the roleplaying areas of the board a brief bit ((Usually double bracketed like this)) at the top or bottom of a post is okay once in a while but don't make a habit out of it.
7. Regarding any sort of 'cheating' yeah just don't do it. I know it seems like it'd be hard or impossible to cheat in a place like this but it's really not things like using out of character knowledge (Unless you character has some ability that might grant them that knowledge, see Character Rules section for more about this) or forcing a hit (If you're attacking another character the acceptable is X slashed for Y rather than X stabbed Y if both are player characters) or dodging everything (Characters even the most powerful and quick will be hit eventually otherwise this is no fun) are unacceptable.
8. Regarding Accounts, you've got one for all your characters, sorry if this causes issues but it just makes things easier on everyone. Please try not to use anything offensive or that might bother someone else as your display name or you will be asked to change it.
9. Regarding Graphics, again nothing offensive or against the rules in your avatar, avatar or linked or shown on your character profile, please as said above do not link to sites that do contain anything against the rules for these images either. In addition don't use anything in your signature or put up anywhere on the site that will stretch out the page, try and re-size images so that they fit the site better if you include images in a post, profile or elsewhere.
10. Posting Order, while not really a forced thing in order to facilitate everyone in a thread this tends to be more of a courtesy thing (Although it will be a rule in story arcs and missions) Basically do not double post or take an action every time someone else does, while people are free to jump into open topics (Listing open, free, nothing, or similar things next to a thread's name) it is considered polite (and as I said mandatory in story threads) to wait for the thread's initiator or runner to post before you post again after you have already posted. If a player has not posted for 3 days (72 hours) real time you are free to skip over them to prevent threads from dying out unnecessarily.
11. HAVE FUN Seriously have some damned fun with this it's supposed to be a game not a job, the ultimate goal of role playing is to enjoy yourself and that's what this place exists to do (As long as your fun doesn't break one of the above rules, sorry but there's gotta be some limits ) In addition if your not enjoying it or it feels like a chore to post, take a break we don't want people getting burnt out and just quitting altogether. So yeah focus on the fun guys !
